Charlotte Chinese Baptist Church (CCBC) is embarking on an exciting journey of growth and renewal, and we are seeking an English Pastor to join us in this mission. Our church’s English congregation, nestled in east Charlotte is an increasingly diverse community passionate about worship, discipleship, and outreach. Our church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and we believe in the transformative power of the gospel to change lives and communities, and we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the world and the different ethnic and diverse communities around us.

Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of the English Pastor position is to provide visionary leadership and spiritual guidance to the English-speaking congregation at CCBC, leading and building up a vibrant community of believers who are passionate about growing in their faith, serving others, and sharing the love of Christ with the world and their respective communities. CCBC recognizes a need within our church in building up leaders and deep discipleship and the English Pastor will play a key role in fostering a culture of discipleship, equipping and empowering individuals for ministry, and cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment where people from all walks of life feel valued, accepted, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with God.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, with a personal commitment to spiritual growth, prayer, and discipleship. A spouse and family with the same commitment.
  • Possession of a seminary degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience, demonstrating a strong theological foundation and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Proven experience in pastoral ministry, with a track record of effective leadership, discipleship, and community engagement.
  • A heart for raising and growing leaders within the church, with the ability to identify, mentor, and empower individuals for ministry and service.
  • Experience connecting with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, fostering a sense of belonging and community within the congregation.
  • A passion for reaching and engaging young adults and young families, with innovative ideas and strategies for ministry outreach and discipleship.
  • Strong preaching and teaching skills, with the ability to communicate biblical truth in a relevant and compelling manner for a majority younger audience.
  • Proficiency in pastoral care and counseling, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals and young families in times of need.
  • Commitment to Baptist principles, doctrines, and practices, with a desire to uphold the core values and beliefs that CCBC adheres to.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers, as well as the leadership of the Chinese congregation.
  • A servant leader mentality, characterized by humility, integrity, and a willingness to serve others with love and grace.
  • A deep reverence for the Word of God and a commitment to taking the Bible and its teachings seriously in all aspects of life and ministry.
  • A willingness to submit to the authority of Scripture and to faithfully preach and teach the whole counsel of God, even when it may be challenging or unpopular.
  • An unwavering commitment to personal holiness and integrity, striving to live a life that reflects the character and values of Christ in all interactions and relationships.
  • A dedication to prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit, seeking His guidance and empowerment in every aspect of ministry and decision-making.
  • Maintain regular communication and prayer with pastors of other Christian churches, participate in regional or national pastors’ retreats and other activities periodically to grow spiritually, broaden horizons, and better serve God.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and spiritual direction along with the Deacon board for the English-speaking congregation, guiding them in their journey of faith and discipleship.
  • Preach and teach the Word of God on the pulpit, in Sunday School, and in other fellowship and ministry settings with clarity, relevance, and authenticity, inspiring and equipping individuals to live out their faith in everyday life.
  • Oversee and coordinate various ministries and programs, including the CCBC SENT Ministry, aimed at fostering spiritual growth, community connection, and outreach.
  • Identify, equip, and empower leaders within the church, providing mentorship, training, and support to help them fulfill their God-given potential.
  • Cultivate a culture of discipleship and mission within the congregation, encouraging individuals to grow in their relationship with Christ and share His love with others.
  • Engage with the broader community to build relationships, promote unity, and serve those in need, demonstrating the love of Christ in tangible ways.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to individuals and families, offering guidance, prayer, and practical assistance in times of joy and sorrow.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team and church leadership in Deacon board meetings, council meetings, and other CCBC leadership meetings to discern and implement strategic initiatives that advance the mission and vision of the church.
  • Uphold the values and beliefs of CCBC’s Statement of Faith, serving as a faithful steward of God’s Word and a humble servant of His people.
