Anchor Bay Church is seeking a warm, reliable, and relational leader to serve as Temporary Director of Kids, Youth, & Families while our current Pastor to Kids & Youth Families is on maternity leave. This is a short-term, part-time position (~15-20 hours/week) to help sustain our family ministry through the duration of the leave (up to 26 weeks), ideally beginning with 1–2 weeks of overlap/training in advance.

This role offers the opportunity to care for our children, youth, and families in a thoughtful and joy-filled way – providing structure, presence, and spiritual leadership while our permanent staff member is away.

Key Responsibilities

Kids Ministry

  • Lead and support Kids Crew (Sunday morning kids programming).
  • Check in regularly with Kids Crew volunteer team.
  • Work with Director of Administration to coordinate volunteer scheduling, CORI/background checks, supply restocking, and Sunday prep.
  • Review weekly curriculum (Orange) and help ensure it remains engaging, clear, and theologically grounded.
  • Handle or delegate any incident reports if needed.
  • Support seasonal ministry preparation (e.g. for Advent activities and potentially Lent as well).
  • Utilize resources Ali will prepare in advance to ensure smooth transitions.

Youth Ministry

  • Serve as a relational checkpoint for youth volunteer team and support them in Sunday evening programming and special events.
  • Send out email communication to parents about Youth Group schedule or needs.
  • Follow up on any disciplinary issues and report concerns per mandatory reporting guidelines.
  • Provide encouragement and spiritual leadership to youth and parents to support ongoing momentum.

Family Ministries & Care

  • Check in with the Parent Connections Team about upcoming events or gatherings.
  • Offer care, prayer, and follow-up for families navigating grief, baptism conversations, or other spiritual and emotional needs.
  • Participate in Tuesday morning staff meetings and collaborate as a part of the larger staff team.
