              Family Ministries Director @ Midway Church 

Job Summary:

The Family Ministries Director is tasked with leading our ministry to families. This part time role focuses on creating, implementing, and managing youth, children and parent ministries.  The end goal is making disciples within the context of families.  This position requires a keen ability to develop strategic plans, manage volunteers, and ensure that the family ministries contribute positively to the church’s overall mission as well as connecting with parents in our preschool.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ministry Development and Oversight: Develop and oversee a broad range of activities and ministries tailored to families, such as parenting workshops, small groups, Sunday School classes, community service projects, family events, and support groups.
    • Liaison with the Preschool formally and informally to connect with both parents and children involved in the program.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Identify, recruit, and train volunteers, providing them with the resources and support needed to serve effectively in the family ministry.
    • Ensure all volunteers that work with youth and children have gone through Ministry Safe.
  • Community Engagement: Initiate and maintain outreach efforts that connect with families in the wider community, aiming to build bridges and integrate new families into the church community.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with church leadership to integrate family ministry objectives with the church’s overall strategic goals.
    • Participate in planning sessions and contribute to the church’s vision.
  • Communication: Ensure clear and consistent communication with families, volunteers, and church staff through newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
  • Budget and Resources Management: Prepare and manage the budget for all ministries that fall under the family ministry umbrella (youth, children and parents) ensuring the judicious use of resources and alignment with the church’s financial practices.
  • Assist Pastor with Sunday worship when duties allow.

Qualifications:

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ who is actively growing in their discipleship by spiritual practices (devotions, prayer, Sabbath keeping, etc).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Christian education, Children’s or Youth Ministry, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Management or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in ministry, program development, community outreach, or a similar role, preferably within a non-profit or ministry setting.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of effectively managing volunteers and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with families, volunteers, and church staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different groups and manage diverse tasks simultaneously.

Salary: 

    Up to $28,000 based on experience and or educational background.
