Family Pastor Job Description
Primary Role: Build on our thriving family ministry that supports families in their discipleship of children in their homes to become an outpost of Christ’s Kingdom. Champion the strategic priority to nurture families by being a church family for families. Lead preschool, children, youth, and college ministries through staff supervision.

Reports to Lead Pastor/Head of Staff
Supervises the Following Positions:
- Director of Children’s Ministry.
- Director of Bonhomme Preschool.
- Director of Student Ministry.
- Family Ministry Coordinator.
Primary Duties:
- Executive Leadership.
- Develop vision, strategies, and a plan for “cradle to college.”
- Manage key staff and leaders to execute the vision of the church and family ministries.
- Champion a vision and church culture that values families, children, and youth.
- Oversee budget and communications for all preschool, children, and family ministries.
- Lead “Nurturing Families” strategic priority, taking responsibility for related actions and metrics.
- Teaching and Equipping.
- Develop parent training and classes to equip parents to disciple their children.
- Ensure volunteers and staff understand their role and how it connects to the vision of the church and family ministries.
- Guide staff/leaders in selecting or developing a curriculum that supports a cohesive vision for family ministry and is aligned with ECO essential tenets.
- Develop/curate Biblical resources for parents.
- Lead “Wednesday Night Family Night” in collaboration with key staff.
- Regularly teach 3Cs classes.
- Preach regularly as requested.
- Periodic presence and teaching at children’s and youth events.
Pastoral:
- Shepherd, disciple, and equip parents with children to disciple their children/families.
- Care for families through significant transitions (including birth, baptism, graduations, divorces, and deaths) as a primary spiritual care provider.
- Develop opportunities for families to connect with other families through groups, events, informal meetings, and lifestyle communication (text, social media, etc.).
- Provide pastoral care to families in crisis.
- Highlight family issues in the culture with the elders and staff.
Head of School:
- Executive-level direction of the preschool through the Director of Preschool.
- Ensure that there are clear pathways for preschool families to connect into the church.
- Provide tours for prospective families.
- Serve as the voice of the preschool at events and key communications.
- Available to preschool families for pastoral care.
Qualifications:
- Love for God and people expressed through teaching, spiritual care, discipleship, and humility.
- Master of Divinity required.
- Ordination preferred and/or ordainable within ECO and holds to ECO essential tenets.
- High relational and emotional IQ.
- Able to cast a vision and lead others to execute strategies and plans to achieve it.
- Able to oversee a wide variety of ministries with excellence.
- Willing to wade into challenging family dynamics in a gracious way.
