First Baptist Church At The Villages began as a church plant in December of 2001 with 70 people in attendance in the first worship service which was held at a local funeral home. Today, the people at FBC The Villages meet together during one service each week to praise and learn about God.  FBC At The Villages strives for each person to feel a sense of home when they walk through the front doors, whether it’s their first time or they’ve been around forever. The service begins with upbeat congregational singing led by the band, praise team, and 70-voice choir. God continues to bless the church and membership now totaling approximately 650 people who serve and worship God together. Online church is available for those unable to physically attend.

About the Senior Pastor:

FBC The Villages is seeking a Senior Pastor to fulfill the biblical role of spiritual leadership as an under-shepherd of the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ, in order to provide comprehensive pastoral leadership to First Baptist Church At The Villages, in pursuit of its God-given purpose, mission, and vision. This person’s priority will be to faithfully reflect the spiritual character of a pastor, overseer, elder, and shepherd as expressed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; and 1 Peter 5:1-4.

The Senior Pastor’s Responsibilities Include: 

General Responsibilities

• Preach — Faithfully proclaim the whole will of God in the church’s congregational gatherings (2 Timothy 4:2; Acts 20:27).
• Teach — Faithfully instruct the church in all the Scriptures so they may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
• Lead — Faithfully oversee the entire church in all its ministry activities (1 Timothy 3:5; Titus 1:7a).
• Love — Faithfully care for all within the church family (1 Peter 5:2-3).

Tasks

• Preach and Teach
  • Plan sermon series and worship themes.
  • Prepare and present sermons during weekly worship.
  • Teach “Preparing to Serve” class.
• Lead the Pastoral Staff
  • Plan and conduct Pastoral Staff meetings.
  • Ensure fulfillment of Biblical Pastoral responsibilities.
  • Provide guidance and accountability to Direct Reports.
• Lead the Executive Committee
  • Plan and conduct Executive Committee meetings.
  • Ensure fulfillment of Executive Committee responsibilities.
• Lead the Deacons
  • Plan and conduct Deacons meetings.
  • Ensure fulfillment of the Deacons’ responsibilities.
• Lead the Support Staff
  • Plan and conduct Staff meetings.
  • Ensure fulfillment of Church Staff responsibilities.
  • Provide guidance and accountability to Direct Reports.
• Lead the Church
  • In baptism celebrations and Lord’s supper observances.
  • In conducting weddings and funerals.
  • In missional partnerships with state, nation, and world.
• Provide spiritual counsel and compassionate care to those in need within the church and community.
• Participate in special presentations for the congregation and community as well as with church affiliates at the local, state, and national levels.
