Role Snapshot:

The Interim Worship Leader works alongside the Music Director to lead worship for City on a Hill Somerville. Our worship leader is pregnant with twins and is starting maternity leave now. This position is available immediately and we will need someone through at least the end of 2024. 

We are also looking for people who could fill in from time to time if you are not able to commit to the interim position.

Church Snapshot:

The mission of City on a Hill Church Somerville is to help religious and irreligious people to become gospel people. Our core values are sound doctrine, gospel culture, and multi-ethnicity. The ideal candidate would be able to promote this mission and these values through song and liturgy selection and execution. City on a Hill Church Somerville is a part of a family of four independent “City on a Hill Churches.” 

Responsibilities:

• Lead vocal aspects of weekly worship gatherings and practices (Services are Sundays @ 9:30AM, Practice begins at 8AM). The music director will lead the band.
• Organize and lead vocal harmonies with other vocalists.
• Audition, coach, and support vocalists.
• Potential to work with the music director and lead pastor to choose songs – all in harmony with sermon text and gospel-shaped arc of the order of service. We pick songs at a monthly collaborative meeting.
• Regularly connect with the lead pastor for coaching and supervision.

Qualifications:

• Must have an upright character and thriving relationship with Jesus.
• Must be able to sing lead and harmony parts, ability to play guitar is a plus. 
• Must be able to lead vocal arrangements and vocalists through rehearsal with a vision for what the songs should sound like.

Compensation:

• $150 per week.
