Mission Baptist Church in Burgaw, NC is looking for their next Lead Pastor. Mission Baptist Church is a part of the Cape Fear Network of Baptist Churches and supports an array of ministries at the local and international levels. Averaging a weekly attendance of 50, Mission Baptist is a church that loves God and loves others in an inviting, relaxed atmosphere
where all are welcome. Burgaw, located just off I40, is a rural community of approximately 3,100 people. Burgaw is known for its friendly, small town feel and its annual NC Blueberry Festival which draws in thousands each year. While Burgaw is surrounded by farmland and forests, it is a mere 25 minutes from the urban amenities of Wilmington, NC and area beaches.
The Lead Pastor that Mission Baptist is seeking will help continue to move the church forward in its purpose of living on mission with Jesus so that all may know Him. The successful candidate will be gifted in leadership, shepherding, caregiving, and teaching. The Lead Pastor should also possess a desire for evangelism and outreach with the goal of making Christ known to our community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching:

• Prepare and preach biblically sound sermons designed to help people grow in their faith.
• Play an active role in planning and coordinating weekly worship services and Bible studies.

Leadership:

• Manage and collaborate with elders and ministry teams to develop and execute strategies to accomplish Mission Baptist Church’s mission and vision.
• Supervise and support church staff and volunteer team leaders.
• Serve as an elder of Mission Baptist Church.

Caregiving:

• Provide pastoral care to church members and the community (i.e. home visits, hospital visits, counseling, etc.).
• Oversee special ceremonies and services, such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.

Shepherding:

• Equip and encourage the congregation to identify and cultivate their spiritual gifts to serve the Lord.
• Equip members to be missionaries in our local community and beyond.
• Identify areas in which our church can better serve the community to include working with other churches and organizations.

Qualifications

• A baptized follower of Jesus.
• Called by God for the ministry of the Gospel.
• Satisfies the Biblical qualifications of teacher/elder from Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
• Holds to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and to Mission Baptist Church’s Constitution and Bylaws.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Seminary degree preferred, authentic understanding of sound Biblical doctrine and theology required.
• A minimum of 5 years pastoral experience preferred.
