Position Title: Lead Planting Pastor

Reports to: Providence Multiplication/Discipleship Pastor

Effective Date: Fall 2024 with Fall 2025 church launch

Status:  Full-Time

Position Summary

In collaboration with Providence Church leadership and our Multiplication Pastor, the Lead Planting Pastor will launch and lead the new Providence Church North* location and minister in accordance with the mission, values, and core beliefs of Providence Church.

*The exact location for this site is still being determined. It will be no closer than 20 minutes and no further than 30 minutes away from Providence West Chester.

Position Responsibilities:

• Recruit and develop Church Plant staff and volunteers.
• Develop and shepherd the ‘Launch Team.’
• Develop mission culture through life groups, prayer, and outreach events.
• Build relationships with local pastors and community leaders.
• Participate in the fundraising campaign and donor development.
• Teach and preach within a team teaching model.  Lead pastor will preach 50-60% at the new location.
• Shepherd and lead the staff and congregation.
• Lead and Integrate Providence Disciple Path into new church community.
• Work in partnership, unity and collaboration with Providence West Chester.
• Participate in monthly Providence Pastor Cohort.
• Participate in weekly Providence Teaching Team meeting.
• Ongoing pastoral care (i.e. weddings, funerals, etc.)
• Lead the execution of Sunday celebration service.

Year One (before the launch of the new plant):

• Build trust among Providence Church and learn the Providence culture.
• Complete Times12/Providence Residency program.
• Build relationships, learn the stories, worldviews, and challenges of people in the planting location.
• Sharpen the necessary traits to faithfully and fruitfully spearhead the new church plant before recruiting and launching.
• Attend all Providence WC staff meetings and retreats.
• Participate in the Providence WC Directional team meetings on a monthly basis.

• Robust and fruitful ministry experience.
• Ability to recruit and develop a team.
• Ability and experience working collaboratively with others.
• Excellent communication, teaching and interpersonal skills (Ability to connect with people from all ages, diverse backgrounds and build meaningful relationships).
• Proven ability to adapt to new environments, navigate challenges, and persevere through adversity.
• Spiritual Gifts: Leadership, Shepherding, Teaching.
• Humility and Teachability.
• Committed to the Emotionally Healthy Discipleship (EHD) lifestyle and rhythms of discipleship.
• A spiritually and emotionally healthy marriage or singleness.
• Experience in fundraising (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree and willingness to do continuing education if needed.
