Purpose: To coordinate all matters concerning music in the Worship Services and overseeing the worship arts at our church. As of now there is one service at 10am, but we will be starting a second service in the coming months.

Reports To: The Senior Pastor.

Qualifications:

  • Enjoys a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus.
  • A heart that deeply yearns for God’s Kingdom to grow on the Central Coast of California.
  • A firm and articulate understanding of the Gospel.
  • Agrees with the Essential Tenets of our denomination (ECO) and the mission, vision, and values of our church. We are Presbyterian. You don’t have to be. We want a person who loves Jesus, believes the Bible, and can get behind our mission to make flourishing disciples.
  • Committed to the expression of worship through music.
  • Leadership skills and experience leading volunteers.
  • Adaptable to the growing needs of the church.
  • Gifted, dynamic vocalist with the ability to lead others in worship.
  • Plays guitar or keyboard proficiently.
  • Able to proficiently communicate with and musically lead a band.
  • Experience mixing sound.
  • A working knowledge of digital presentation software (ProPresenter, Keynote, PowerPoint) and projection setup methods.
  • Experience using Planning Center Online for scheduling and providing resources to the worship team.
  • Good organization, communication, leadership and people skills.
  • A strong desire to disciple those you serve with and lead.
  • A life-long learner.
  • Experience leading a variety of music styles and genres.
    • Hymns, Folky Hymns, Indie Folk, Contemporary (but not WOW Worship)
  • Entrepreneurial, fun, and willing to try new things!

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the spiritual life of the congregation through the music ministry.
  • Plan all service music, hymns and praise songs, according to the church year and in conjunction and with sermon passages provided by the Senior Pastor.
  • Leads Sunday worship services, builds teams, and disciples worship/production volunteers or teams.
  • Create ProPresenter slides for all music.
  • Lead rehearsals and develop new worship team members.
  • Encourage congregational members to share their musical gifts.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings for prayer, training, and team-building.
  • Leads worship and A/V for special events as needed.
  • Assists in making and overseeing creative aspects/content of church services.
  • Schedule volunteers using Planning Center Online.
  • Develop new worship team members through rehearsals and training.
  • Assists in setting up and tearing down A/V.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The church is in a season of renewal. The position can be less hours if you would like to only focus on worship. However, if you would like the advertised salary, then you must be willing and able to faithfully perform additional duties in at least one of the following other ministry areas: church administration, student ministries, missions, or assimilation.

Pay Rate: $68,000

Benefits: 1 week of paid vacation during first year. 2 weeks paid vacation after a year of employment with good reviews.
