Description: Working in conjunction with the Lead Pastor, this individual will help to develop and oversee an overall ministry that will promote within the congregation, musically excellent, scripture saturated, and biblically sound worship experiences. Such worship services will be designed to inspire the congregation to sing in fulfillment of Colossians 3:16. Under his leadership, the congregation will sing songs that are God-centered, Christ-exalting and Scripture-saturated so as to lead the body through vocal and instrumental music, a passion for God’s glory and a deep gratitude for the gospel.  Members of Cornerstone will be equipped, encouraged and empowered through this ministry to “love the Lord their God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their might” (Deut. 6:5).  We envision that such worship experiences will both prepare hearts to both receive the Word and respond to the Word.

Responsibilities:

  • Take the leading in developing a weekly order of worship and work closely with the Lead Pastor in defining the purpose, theme and flow of each service, along with any appropriate media.
  • Infuse a biblical philosophy of worship into the culture of the church and the various teams he is working with, cultivating humble spirits which play and sing for God’s glory alone.
  • Research and build a repertoire of songs for worship gatherings at Cornerstone that are doctrinally sound, theologically rich and historically connective. (see “Reliable Sources” doc.)
  • Direct and oversee the Sunday worship technical team handling sound, lighting, video and projection for Sundays. Help train and expand this team.
  • Recruit and vet new musicians and instrumentalists to participate on worship team provide training opportunities for worship team members to grow in their skill set.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of special holiday services which draw others to Christ and help celebrate the significant seasonal events on the church calendar.
  • Help develop and manage the yearly budget. Approve purchases related to worship ministries.
  • Coordinate with any choir directors in the for enhancement of congregational worship and integration with other ministries (children/youth). Provide resources and support as necessary.
  • Music for weddings, memorial services, and recitals.
  • Record usage of songs through CCLI and ensure that proper copyright information is posted.

 Additional Responsibilities (for full-time only):

For those wanting to be considered for full-time employment, one or more areas of oversight from the following list will be assigned.  This area would be coupled with the interests, gifts and particular experience of the candidate as well as the present needs of the church.

Prerequisites:

  • A passion for worship and leading others into worship through music, prayer and scripture.
  • Able to lead from an instrument with a strong voice and musical proficiency.
  • Some theological / biblical education (formal / non-formal). High view of scripture.
  • A team-player and discipler of others.
  • Has integrity in his personal life and demonstrates a pattern of making godly choices.
  • Able to work in the United States and pass a criminal background check.

Preferences:

  • Proficient on more than one instrument.
  • Able to use current technology to enhance worship experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or worship arts from an accredited college or university.
  • A record of previous successful church ministry experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 360, Google Suite and Planning Center.
  • A long-term view with a desire to invest a significant number of years in this role.

Compensation: $35,000 – $75,000 depending on experience and education. NOTE: The church owns a newly remodeled home on its campus (2 bdrm / 1 bath).  This home could be provided as part of the total compensation package depending on need.  Other benefits are listed in the Personnel Policy Handbook.
