JOB SUMMARY

The Ministry Coordinator will provide logistical and administrative support to both the children’s ministry and discipleship departments at Redeemer Lincoln Square (LSQ).

This position is responsible for coordinating LSQ’s Sunday children’s ministry, managing its volunteers and supporting its community-building events. One key focus is the implementation of LSQ’s long-term family ministry goals that create an environment where families are drawn to LSQ and New York City, finding community, opportunities for growth, and a variety of events tailored for families of all ages.

The Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for tasks and projects related to office management, event planning and data management. This position is highly tactical and administrative in nature, but also people-intensive. Strong organizational, multi tasking, proactive problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential. The Ministry Coordinator will play an important role in helping LSQ to achieve its overall vision, mission and strategy.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Children’s Ministry (50%)
a. Sunday Coordination Support

  • Manage logistics, curriculum, worship, classroom management, attendance, and parent communication for elementary Sunday School classes.
  • Assist the children’s ministry team to ensure that curriculum is gospel-centered, age-appropriate and aligned with LSQ’s vision.
  • Work with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator to create a fun, safe and exciting learning environment for LSQ children’s ministry.
b. Early Education Duties
  • Lead curriculum and teaching efforts for all nursery through kindergarten grade classes.
  • Teach and train teachers for Sunday morning.
  • Have all supplies, crafts, and materials ready for Sunday morning.
c. Volunteer Management
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers, maintaining a volunteer database and communication.
  • Maintain relationships with volunteers, including providing ongoing training and evaluation.
  • Lead recruitment initiatives and provide volunteer appreciation.
  • Schedule all volunteers for Sunday morning.
  • Maintain substitutes for volunteers.
  • Plan and coordinate volunteer training with the Director of Children’s Ministry.
  • Assist with accreditation for LSQ’s children’s ministry with the Evangelical of Abuse Prevention with the Director of Children’s Ministry.
d. Event Support
  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal programs, family events, and community-building activities.
  • Provide logistics support for Sunday School and events, including room reservations, check-ins, food ordering and setup/cleanup.
e. General Administration
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as making signs, labels and name tags and organizing supplies.
  • Maintain office organization, manage volunteer onboarding and oversee weekly shipments.
f. Database Management
  • Manage the children’s ministry database (TouchPoint), streamlining check-ins and tracking attendance.
  • Ensure accuracy in record-keeping for families and events and assist with event registrations.
g. Vision and Strategic Planning
  • Contribute creative ideas and solutions to support the family ministry vision.
  • Collaborate with the team on curriculum and programming decisions.
  • Participate in weekly family ministry meetings to plan and set ministry goals.
2. Discipleship (50%)
a. Church-Wide Discipleship, Community Groups (CGs), Men’s and Women’s Ministry
  • Assist Director of Discipleship with administrative tasks, including, but not limited to, calendar management, scheduling and note-taking at certain meetings.
  • Manage and implement all event administration and logistics for discipleship meetings, trainings, seminars and classes led by Director of Discipleship and/or Director of Community Life, including, but not limited to those related to Community Groups (CGs), Men’s Ministry and Women’s Ministry. Tasks include, but not limited to, booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, preparation of agenda/handouts, setting up of meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers, guests and attendees, for each class/meeting/event/training/seminar ensuring high quality standards and timeliness.
  • Manage all administration and logistics for the LSQ CG system including:
    ○ TouchPoint management to ensure all CG records are accurate and hosts/leader information is correct.
    ○ Assist and provide logistical and administrative support for new CG leader and advanced CG leader training sessions to ensure 100% of leaders are trained to care for CG members and understand the vision of these groups.
b. Diaconate and Session
Meetings, Programs and Events
  • Oversee and implement all Diaconate and Session meeting and event logistics, including, but not limited to, booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, preparation of agenda/handouts, setting up of meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers, guests and attendees, for each meeting/event ensuring high quality standards and timeliness.
  • Draft minutes of Diaconate meetings.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of LSQ’s 2Q, one of our major initiatives for member/congregational care. This includes, but is not limited to, training documentation, member assignments and TouchPoint troubleshooting.
Diaconate Care Request
  • Ensure the timely processing of all Diaconate care requests received via sources outside of care intake form (i.e. phone and website inquiries, bulletin info form).
Recruitment of Deacons/Deaconesses/Elders
  • Manage all administrative aspects of the recruitment process for new deacons, deaconesses and elders, including nominations, application processing, setting up of interviews, logistics of both theological and practical skills training, and installation.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must embrace LSQ’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City.
  • Must be aligned with the core theological principles, including the core ministry values of LSQ and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession.
  • Must be a positive Christian role model who possesses a love for God that is evident and contagious; must have a gospel-oriented heart to serve God, families, singles and children in New York City.
  • Must have a four-year undergraduate degree in psychology, theology, religion, biblical studies, youth ministry, education or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have ministry experience; minimum of 2 years’ experience (volunteer or paid) participating in children’s or family ministry; urban ministry experience is a plus.
  • Experience in managing data for organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Excellent ability to organize and advance multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and effectively execute programs and events, along with strong time management.
  • Aptitude for communicating effectively and winsomely.
  • Ability to manage full administrative details of an organization; administrative experience required; experience with database management (or CRM) tools a plus.
  • Ability to think proactively and anticipate and meet administrative needs.
  • Comfort and competence navigating a complex organization and a dynamic ministry environment.
  • Commitment to take initiative, own and follow through on administrative details and projects.
  • Ability to build relationships and trust across a broad set of staff and volunteers.
  • Team player with ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organizational environment.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain high standards of honesty and integrity.
  • Attentive to and works appropriately with a culturally and socio-economically diverse population.
  • Experience managing volunteers under supervision.
  • Proven ability to teach Bible, theology, and Christian discipleship to youth and adults.
  • Established ability to speak before large and small groups with poise and enthusiasm.
  • Experience in writing and editing is preferred.
  • Confirmed understanding of children’s development.
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend events, as needed, is required.
SKILLS
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Must be in possession of strong administrative, interpersonal, organizational, technological, and problem solving skills.
