MINISTRY STAFF INTERN (Seminary Student Internship)

ABOUT US: Bay Area Chinese Bible Church (BACBC) is a gospel-centered, Bible-teaching church in the San Francisco East Bay Area, committed to reaching people and growing them into passionate followers of Jesus Christ. Established in 1956 by Pastor Sen and June Wong, BACBC began with a Vacation Bible School for neighborhood children and has grown into a multicultural, intergenerational church with English, Cantonese, and Mandarin congregations. Its rich history includes serving diverse immigrant families and providing impactful educational ministries through Coastline Christian Schools, which serves over 400 students and families weekly. BACBC averaged 600 attendees across worship services in multiple languages and offered vibrant children’s and youth ministries, reflecting its dedication to both spiritual and community growth.

SCHEDULE: Negotiable availability, with specified month-to-month or quarterly frequency.
PAY: Stipend of $3,500 – $4,500 per month at 100% full-time availability (100% = estimate of 40 hours per week, Sunday – Saturday) and would be prorated based on the selected intern’s availability.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This is a temporary exempt position in an internship role supporting the church ministries and reports to a ministry staff leader or a pastoral staff.
PURPOSE: To develop the intern’s knowledge and competence working within an established Christian institution. The interns will work with church ministry leaders, volunteers, and staff to assist them in the ministries of BACBC to fulfill the Great Commission and Great Commandments.

REGULAR DUTIES: May focus on one or more areas depending on candidate aspirations and giftings, and availability for internship.
(Pastoral/Shepherd)
1. Support a pastor in his roles and responsibilities.
2. Attend scheduled staff meeting(s) to discern what needs and admin help are required each week, and to collaborate with various church ministries, to understand the ministries.
3. Participate in regular intern development meetings for discipleship and ministry training.
4. Assist the English ministry as requested by the senior and congregational pastor.
5. Lead small groups, teach Sunday school classes and other ministry opportunities
6. Partner with preschool and school ministries for pastoral support.
(Worship& Music)
7. Assist the English Worship Coordinators and Associate English Pastor in planning and executing god-ward, Christ-centered worship services
8. Assist in the planning and scheduling of worship service volunteers and worship teams.
9. Assist in leading musical worship, and playing/singing as part of a worship team. Responsibility is mainly for worship services but may include churchwide events.
10. Work with the Associate English Pastor(s) to assist with the worship service by developing the music ministries more effectively.

PERIODIC DUTIES:
1. Work with other leaders (paid and volunteer) in carrying out the ministry of the church.
2. Assist with church-wide functions as needed.

OCCASIONAL/IRREGULAR DUTIES:
1. Perform other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current seminary or college student or recent graduate
2. A born-again Christian with active involvement in the ministries of BACBC (e.g. worship attendance, small group/fellowship participation).
3. A self-starter, taking the initiative to get work done on your own.
4. Organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
5. Proficiency in communication and administration: online/digital e-mail, Google Apps, MS Office apps.
6. Proficiency with using and collaborating on productivity software like MS Office and Google Suite apps (Docs/Sheets/etc.).
7. Evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle are consistent with BACBC’s Articles of Faith.
