Position Summary
The Next Generation Ministries Director reports to the Outreach and Women’s Pastor and serves as a player/coach and leads the Next Generation Ministries team (birth-Young Adult) while serving as Team Leader for the Kids Next Door Ministry. This role provides oversight of the hiring process, leadership, training, vision casting and direction for the following paid staff: Teens Next Door Student Ministry Director (grades 6-12), Kids Next Door Administrative Assistant (birth-5th grade), Volunteer Team Leads & Choir Team Leads, and all paid staff within the Next Generation Ministries Team. The director partners with the Next Generation Ministries Team, parents, students, and volunteers to Move People Closer to God. The Next Generation Ministries Director is responsible to establish goals, design and execute strategies, and build teams that lead to the fulfillment of our vision for our next generations.
- Next Generation Team Leadership – Oversees and leads the Next Generation Ministries team with collaborative leadership and goal-setting efforts from team members. Collaborates with Outreach and Women’s Pastor on administration and planning to set and reach annual ministry goals. Supports the work, growth, and professional development of the team as a whole and of individual team members.
- Facilitating Kids Next Door Ministry – Plans, facilitates, and executes ministry development, administration, and events. Serve as the lead for weekend services, checking on all classrooms throughout services. Oversees Kids Choir (September/October-May) that is lead by a volunteer. Collaborates with Next Gen team members to plan and execute ministry events such as Back-to-School event, Fall Fest, Christmas (including choir performance), Winter Fest, Palm Sunday parade, Easter/Easter egg hunt (including choir performance), and 2-3 summer fun days.
- Discipling & communicating with others – Leads, equips, and grows teams of staff and volunteers, creating regular patterns of caring for the team on an individual and whole-team basis. Oversee and work closely with Next Generation Administrative Assistant. Support the Youth Director with events and trips as needed. Maintains personal discipling relationships with students and families. Ministers to and communicates with staff and parents of students on an individual level and a communal level. Creates a discipling environment for staff, parents, students, and volunteer leaders.
- Outreach Efforts – outside our church that reach new students. Primarily focused on building relationships with children, parents, staff, and community leaders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Commitment to the church’s statement of faith and Staff Covenant.
- A committed follower of Christ, able to share a personal testimony of the transforming power of Jesus Christ in their life.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years leadership experience in full-time youth ministry. Plans on Youth Ministry as a career choice.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience managing staff.
- Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and deploying adult & student leaders and volunteers.
- Effective written and oral, small and large group communication skills. Engaging as a speaker and teacher.
- Experience with use of active learning strategies and curriculum development utilizing multiple learning styles.
- Leadership with mission trips or in cross cultural ministry.
- Experience leading retreats and camps.
- Experience managing and leading ministry with physical, emotional and spiritual safety of students and volunteers.
- Experience managing and leading ministry with physical, emotional and spiritual safety of staff and volunteers as a priority.
- Experience managing complex ministry details including scheduling, communication, budgeting, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment, helping to create an atmosphere of open and honest communication to build healthy working relationships in which mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to Christian love for one another are paramount.
- Financial management and budget oversight experience.
- Availability for evening and weekend commitments.
Physical Demands & Work Enviornment
The position works in a church environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the facility is quiet.
