Church History

We are a Bible-based, Christ centered church family. Our church was organized on December 23, 1900. The first church service was held in May of 1901.

We have been blessed with many wonderful pastors over the years. We are a place of worship and celebration. Our dependence on God is continually affirmed. God is not only glorified but is also enjoyed forever.

FPC Church Facilities

First Presbyterian Church is located on a 1/2 acre campus on Main Street in the downtown area. We have three large buildings that include our sanctuary, offices, fellowship and overflow room, a social hall for receptions and events with a commercial kitchen and 2 ADA bathrooms, a 2 story Christian education building with Sunday school and meeting rooms, 3 bathrooms, and a primary nursery. For outside games and activities there is a fenced grass area. There are also 2 storage buildings used for maintenance and yard care equipment, extra church furniture and youth activity equipment.

FPC is an older church facility that has been well maintained by our volunteer members. We are totally debt free.

 Our Vision

“SEEKING-SERVING-SHARING GOD THROUGH CHRIST JESUS”

Our faith at FPC is Bible based. We seek to live and follow the teachings of Jesus. Based on this, we left the PC-USA in 2013 to become a part of the ECO denomination. Our vision for the future is to be a loving, growing church fellowship with people of ALL AGES. We want to love God personally and grow spiritually through studying His scriptures. We desire to love others by reaching out to our local Bishop families. We want to share the gospel and serve others. We are a small welcoming and praying church family. We care deeply for the Lord, for one another and our surrounding communities.

Pastor Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity Degree or having qualified as a CLP or working toward a CLP.
  • Already in the ECO denomination or be willing to be ordained and affirmed of the Essential  Tenets of ECO.
  • Adhere to and live in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Pastoral Qualities

Our new pastor:

  • Must be a person of strong character and faith with conservative, pro-life values.

  • One who is a shepard leader and committed to prayer.
  • One who has concern for the welfare of our congregation.
  • One with the desire to grow and renew our church family.
  • One who will be involved with the Bishop community and its youth.
  • One who has a background in administration and finance.
  • One who will lead and encourage our members to participate in programs and small groups within the church.

Church Ministers

We have approximately 30 covenant partners. Sunday Service attendance varies from 28-40. We broadcast on Facebook with others joining us.

There is a faithful core of members who give of their time, talents and treasures regularly.

There is a monthly potluck church service with 10-12 attendees. Currently there are weekly men’s and women’s Bible studies. Two school age children attend Sunday school. Our church nursery is vacant. Our youth group is nonexistent. However, we do open our church facility multiple times each year to a local missionary for youth activities and VBS.
