Overview

Principle Function
The Pastor has a duty to the church, to declare the gospel of Jesus Christ, to instruct in biblical teachings, to participate in pastoral care services, to lead in outreach efforts, and to show the Christian life through their own actions.
Core Responsibilities
The responsibilities are overseeing worship services in conjunction with the Deacons and worship team, such as Sunday school and Sunday morning services, as well as any additional special services required. Additionally, guiding the church in effective outreach and compassionate ministry to both church members and the wider community. Collaborating with the Deacons to formulate and execute strategies aimed to foster church growth.
Other Responsibilities
The responsibilities encompass a range of pastoral duties, including conducting counseling sessions, officiating weddings and funerals, providing care to the sick and grieving, and visiting homebound individuals, with a deacon, who are unable to attend services. In addition, the role involves actively participating in meetings with the Deacons to plan and evaluate church ministries, as well as attending Trustees\’ meetings to coordinate financial matters related to church programs. Furthermore, the Pastor acts as the moderator during church meetings and engages with leadership from the American Baptist Church-New Jersey, also coordinating with the Allentown Ecumenical Ministerium. A key aspect of the role also includes fostering the spiritual and ministerial growth of individual church members.
Time Requirements
The church anticipates that the part-time Pastor will dedicate approximately 15 to 20 hours per week to church-related responsibilities.
