Reports To: Director of Children’s Ministry & Management
Date: Immediately
Hours Worked: Part-Time: 3-4 hours on Sunday morning (additional hours available for special events)
Salary Range: $24-$27 per hour
Position Summary:
The Redeemer East Harlem Sunday Hospitality Coordinator (SHC) will help ensure a welcoming environment for those who attend REH worship services.
Job Description:
In preparation for service, the SHC will ensure:
- Refreshments are prepared.
- Signage is in order.
- The worship space is prepared to receive congregants.
- Any other tasks provided by the Director of Children’s Ministry & Management are completed.
During service, the SHC will:
- Welcome those who enter.
- Help direct families and ensure they sign their children in.
- Welcome newcomers and receive their connection cards.
- Remain at the desk during service and be available as needed.
After the service, the SHC will:
- Clean up the refreshments area.
- Bring signage back in.
- Lock up the worship space when no additional post-service programming is taking place.
- Any other tasks provided by the Director of Children\’s Ministry & Management.
Qualifications:
- Must embrace Redeemer’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City and especially East Harlem. Candidates must be aligned with core theological principles of Redeemer and the Presbyterian Church in America.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism during crises or any unexpected situations.
- Ability to remain discreet while handling sensitive information in a church setting.
- Adheres to biblical/Christian ethics and personal behavior/conduct is reflective.
- Must be a team-player.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set; experience and training; licensure, certifications, and ordination; and other organizational needs.
