Covenant Christian Academy is seeking a qualified professional in the area of visual arts education. The candidate for this position should hold a Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or equivalent art degree and have had experience teaching art in the classroom at the elementary and secondary school levels. The candidate will possess competency to engage in our distinctly Christian and classical model with a passion for teaching art in a variety of approaches, styles, and formats.

A Visual Arts faculty position includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Plan and teach Art classes once per week for Grades K-3.
  • Plan and teach Rhetoric School Art Electives twice per week for each semester.  Electives may include, but are not limited to, the following: Drawing I and II, Painting I and II, Ceramics, Advanced/AP Art, Photography, Graphic Design.
  • Manage and maintain art classroom space and materials, including recommendations for purchases and classroom layout.
  • Oversee curriculum review and recommendations for the Visual Arts program.
  • Assist the Director of Fine Arts in managing visual art events and projects (Spring Fest, art shows, displaying art in the hallways throughout the year, integrating art with other disciplines) and work with the Director of Fine Arts and other Visual Arts teachers to further develop the curriculum.
  • Be available for monthly all-staff meetings and fine arts department meetings.
  • Attend specified school events as representative of the CCA Fine Arts Program, including “Back to School Night,” “Discover Covenant,” Admissions Events and others (a minimum number of events will be outlined in detail during faculty orientation week).
  • Be available during set hours each week to work with students individually for tutoring and/or coaching for art class or independent study.
  • Working knowledge and experience with computer technology and computer software for music applications is valuable and essential.

The Visual Arts Faculty position is a full-time position with benefits. Supplemental income from after-school programs and/or individual art lessons may be available.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and experience with classroom teaching preferred.
  • Experience with classroom or group management preferred.
  • Mature Christian faith and character and a desire to work with students in a Christian school setting.
  • Readiness to collaborate with colleagues, specialists, parents, and the larger school community.
  • Willingness to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the CCA Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to sign CCA’s Statement of Faith and Core Values. Must maintain the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model and mentor both in and out of school, to students, parents, fellow faculty members and employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living.

Contract runs:  September 2024 through June 2025; teaching is on a 10-month cycle.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
