Youth Director
Other Details
Faith Covenant is a mid-sized church (100–150 weekly attendance) with a heart for Christ, community, and the next generation. We’re seeking a part-time Youth Director to build, lead, and grow a Youth ministry program for junior and senior high students.
This role isn’t just about maintaining existing programs — it’s about building a ministry that nurtures faith and engages students. The Youth Director will help lead the church in deepening our connection with the surrounding community—building bridges with local families, schools, and neighborhoods so that we increasingly reflect and serve the people around us. Candidates should have experience in attracting youth from the local community, as evidenced by increasing the numbers participating in this ministry. As the ministry grows, additional hours may be added to the director role.
Responsibilities include:
- Create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for all youth.
- Build and lead a comprehensive youth ministry program for middle and high school students that includes Bible study, fellowship, worship, service, and outreach.
- Plan and organize regular youth group activities: weekly meetings, Sunday school, events, retreats, and mission trips that foster spiritual growth and community.
- Plan and lead opportunities for students to serve and connect with the local community—such as neighborhood service projects, partnering with nearby schools, or participating in community events—to help students build relationships and live out their faith beyond the church walls.
- Build meaningful relationships with students to mentor, support, and encourage their personal faith journey.
- Recruit, equip, and supervise adult volunteers and youth leaders to assist in ministry programs.
- Collaborate with church staff and leadership to integrate youth ministry into the life of the church and support the church’s overall mission.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates, encouragement, and resources.
- Coordinate activities with the FCC Family Ministry and the Young Adult Ministry.
- Manage the youth ministry budget and resources, including planning for events and curriculum purchases.
- Stay informed about trends and issues affecting youth, and respond with relevant, biblically grounded programming.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a calling to minister to youth through relational and spiritual leadership.
- Experience in developing and leading youth ministry programs that foster spiritual growth, community, and service.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, and mentor adult volunteers and youth leaders.
- Creative vision and initiative to grow a vibrant youth program that engages students inside and outside the church.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to plan events, manage schedules, and coordinate logistics. Strong computer and social media skills.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and the ability to create age-appropriate discipleship opportunities.
- Comfortable teaching Biblical truths in engaging, relevant ways that connect with middle and high school students.
- Willingness to build relationships with youth and their families both in church and in the broader community.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and leadership to align youth ministry with the overall mission of the church.
Accountability: This position is responsible to the Lead Pastor and to the church Council.
