Mission Statement of First Presbyterian Church: To strive to give honor and glory to God in all things. It is the mission of First Presbyterian Church to grow in the grace and love of Jesus Christ, as we reach out to God’s people sharing the good news of the gospel through words and actions.
Purpose: The Youth Director will coordinate our youth programs to ensure that youth (Elementary-High School) are gathering, growing and serving as disciples of Christ. The Youth Director will lead by example of personal Christian faith and worship.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement engaging programs and activities for our WINGS (Wednesday’s I Need God’s Strength) program. Attend Wednesday evening dinner and programs (September-May): 5:15pm dinner, music, classes and craft until 6:30pm for youth ages 3 years old through 6th grade.
- Attend Sunday school and teach when needed. Attend morning church service and prepare short lessons for Children’s message during service one time a month.
- Build and grow youth programs for grades 7-12 on Sunday evenings.
- Organize community service projects and events that engage youth in giving back to the community and encourage participation from all youth.
- Coordinate special events, retreats and camps.
- Provide regular communication regarding various youth ministries’ events/activities to families, volunteers and church. Work with volunteers and coordinate schedules to plan activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
Qualifications:
- Strong Christian values and ability to speak to its effect in your life.
- Passionate about youth ministry and working with young people.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Monitor and evaluate programs outcomes, making adjustments as necessary.
- Comfortable with social media and its uses in ministry.
The Youth leader reports weekly to the pastor, staying in constant communication about youth activities and coordinating plans. The Youth leader will work approximately 10 hours a week. Compensation will be between $18,000-$20,000 a year. Tuition reimbursement may be available. It is essential to have availability on Wednesday evenings, Sunday mornings
and nights.
