Job Description

The youth ministry intern position is a part-time position beginning in mid-October of 2023 and ending in mid-January of 2024. The position includes attendance on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday nights, equaling no less than 5 and no more than 10 hours per week. The youth ministry intern serves to help cultivate an atmosphere and culture of belonging, compassion, and Christian care specifically within the context of East Baptist Church’s youth ministry. He/she does this by running the weekly midweek youth meeting, attending and supporting events of the greater church which the youth attend and participate in, and connecting with youth group members on Sunday morning.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Aid in cultivating an atmosphere and culture of worship, service, and Christian growth in all aspects of church life, especially in the lives of the youth group members.
• Attend Sunday morning worship, with a special focus on making sure that present youth are engaged and connected.
• Prepare and lead the Wednesday night (5pm to 7pm) EBC Youth meeting for students in grades 6 through 12 – including food, games/activities, and lesson delivery.
• Connect with students throughout the week to offer encouragement and support while also making sure they are aware of youth meetings and other events at the church.
• Meet weekly with the pastor(s)/elder(s) for mentoring and support as well as to discuss & evaluate the direction of the youth ministry of EBC.
• Properly involve and utilize church volunteers in the running of the Wednesday night meeting.
• Support EBC Kids (East Baptist Church’s children’s ministry which meets weekly during the Sunday service for ages 4 to 10) as able.
• Pray regularly for the youth as well as for the greater church.
• Be punctual and prepared.

Compensation

• 1099 Contractor Position
• $500 Stipend (to be paid upon completion of internship)

Requirements

• Must provide own transportation
