Executive Pastor
Love God, Love People, Grow in Christ, Serve the World
About Beacon Church
Beacon Church exists to help people Love God, Love People, Grow in Christ, and Serve the World. Founded in 2005, Beacon is a vibrant, gospel-centered church rooted in the heart of Long Island’s diverse, fast-moving New York metro culture. We are a community of people who take Jesus seriously, pursue genuine discipleship, and believe the local church is God’s “plan A” for the world. What started small has grown into a multi-service, multi-ministry congregation with a growing footprint in the region.
Our discipleship pathway runs deep: from Alpha courses and small groups to Discipleship Classes and small groups, we invest in the long-term spiritual growth of every person who walks through our doors.
The Opportunity
Beacon Church is actively searching for an Executive Pastor – a seasoned ministry leader who can serve as the Lead Pastor’s right hand, translate vision into execution, and provide unified oversight across our pastoral and ministry teams. This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives in a high-trust, high-accountability environment, and who brings the experience and grit to lead in the complexities of a New York-area church context.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
Preaching & Teaching
- Craft and deliver Bible-based, exegetical sermons as part of the preaching team rotation.
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and team in developing sermon series that address the real needs of the congregation.
- Contribute to weekend service planning, ensuring theological depth and pastoral sensitivity in all teaching content.
Sunday Experience Oversight
- Provide senior-level oversight for the Sunday worship experience, working closely with Production and Worship Team leaders.
- Ensure technical excellence and spiritual intentionality work in concert each weekend.
- Coordinate communion, baptisms, and other sacramental moments with care and precision.
Next Generation Ministries
- Provide strategic oversight to Kidz Quest (children’s ministry) and Student Ministries leadership teams.
- Ensure Next Gen ministries are aligned with the church’s overall discipleship vision and pastoral culture.

- Provide leadership oversight for Beacon’s small group ministry, ensuring health, growth, and theological alignment.
- Oversee Small Group Leader coaching, monthly connection meetings, and discussion leader development.
- Steward the matching and placement process that connects new members to appropriate community groups.
Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
- Oversee Beacon’s Discipleship Class (D-Class) content, scheduling, and execution.
- Recruit, train, and deploy Disciple-Makers to lead D-Groups throughout the congregation.
- Personally lead a D-Group as a modeling practice, demonstrating the culture you’re building.
- Maintain a clear vision for what a fully-formed disciple at Beacon looks like, and build pathways toward it.
Staff & Pastoral Leadership
- Provide unified oversight and weekly/monthly touchpoints with ministry team leaders across departments.
- Serve as a primary pastor to staff—offering encouragement, accountability, and spiritual care.
- Coordinate pastoral care efforts, including covenant member sessions, hospital visits, and counseling referrals.
- Lead church-wide brainstorming, troubleshooting, and operational problem-solving in partnership with the Lead Pastor.
- Represent the Lead Pastor’s vision clearly and consistently to the wider team.

- Monitor monthly financial reporting and keep leadership informed of key metrics and variances.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls, processes, and accountability structures are in place.

Our Lead Pastor is a visionary with a strong personality and a clear sense of where God is taking this church. We’re looking for someone who can be an equally strong collaborative leader; someone who knows how to build structure around a vision, manage a diverse staff, and create the conditions for ministry to thrive. This position fits a leader who is energized by pace, a high-level team, complexity, and the unique dynamics of New York culture.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal Executive Pastor candidate brings:
- A proven track record of senior ministry leadership, ideally in a multi-staff, large church context.
- Exceptional ability to build, manage, and develop a diverse ministry team.
- A deep commitment to expository preaching and gospel-centered discipleship.
- Strong relational instincts with a high EQ.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to serve confidently under a strong, visionary Lead Pastor.
- Operational and administrative acumen – you can hold vision and details in the same hand.
- Familiarity with New York metro culture: the directness, the pace, the diversity, the political landscape, and the unique spiritual landscape of the region. You don’t need to “learn” New York – you already get it.
- Experience with or working knowledge of the Alpha Course model and small group ministry.
- A genuine personal discipleship life not just a program manager, someone who takes soul care seriously and models healthy spiritual disciplines.
Qualifications
- Seminary degree (M.Div. or equivalent) preferred; serious theological training required
- Minimum 7–10 years of pastoral ministry experience, with significant team leadership responsibility in a larger church context (700+)
- Ordained or ordination-eligible within an evangelical tradition
- Agreement with Beacon Church’s statement of faith and membership covenant
- Demonstrated personal faith, family health, and spiritual integrity consistent with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
