Coordinator of Children/Youth Ministries

Summary of Duties:

The Coordinator of Children/Youth Ministries (CCYM) will play a pivotal role in nurturing the spiritual growth and development of the children and youth of Stallings Church. The CCYM will guide them in a deeper relationship with the Triune God, and a meaningful understanding of Christian living.  This position is part time, salaried, and operates in consultation with the pastor, and under the authority of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.

  • Models standards and expectations of Christian leadership, including positivity and professionalism

Qualifications:

  • A background in ministry, education, or child development—whether that’s through a degree, seminary, or related experience; a proven self-starter capable of assuming oversight of programs and volunteer team with a deep commitment to growth
  • Comfortable with everyday computer work and eager to dive into multimedia—or willingness to learn
  • Experience working with children/youth, has a heart for children/youth, and is committed to helping children/youth grow in their faith
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Effective communication skills with children/youth, parents, volunteers, & church staff
  • Demonstrate ability to recruit, empower, and supervise volunteers
  • Background check required

Responsibilities and Desired Outcomes:

  • Create meaningful Christ-focused relationships with the children/youth and families in this ministry with regular gatherings
  • Maintain a caring attitude, constantly looking for ways to effectively achieve our vision, while remaining accessible, responsive, and flexible in handling the changing needs of the church
  • Create a welcoming and inviting environment to encourage growth in our program, including guests
  • Attend staff meetings and other team meetings where children/youth ministries input is needed
  • Biblically sound curriculum for Nursery-12th grade for Sunday mornings to enable children/youth to grow in their understanding and application of the Word of God
  • Lead Children’s Church of Sunday mornings during Worship Service following Children’s Message
  • Develop and nurture skills, and equip volunteers associated with children/youth ministry. Recruit, schedule, train, coordinate, and support volunteers to help with all aspects of children/youth ministry, including Sunday mornings, and special events for example, presentation of children’s Bibles, fall festival, Christmas program and vacation bible school
  • Oversee inventories, schedules, and annual budgets for children/youth ministries
  • Facilitate updates between leadership, staff, and families via monthly reports, and participate in all Ministry Council team needs
  • Ensure 100% adherence to Safe Sanctuaries
