Lead Pastor

First Baptist Church of Danville is actively seeking a full-time Lead Pastor. The man chosen to fill this opening needs to be a solid Bible preacher and teacher and must be willing to share the pulpit with our other pastoral staff. We also want someone who will live in Danville or the surrounding area and be involved in the community. This person needs to have good people skills, be self-motivated and be a humble servant of God.

In our search for a Lead Pastor, we would prefer a seminary graduate with 5+ years of pastoral experience but will consider a graduate of a Bible College with equivalent experience. Most of all we are looking for a spiritually mature man who meets the qualifications for an elder as outlined in the Scriptures (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Pet. 5:1-4).

Purpose:

To give professional full-time leadership to the congregation of First Baptist Church, its ministries, administration and fellowship as stated in Article II of the Constitution and By-Laws Objectives

1. To provide pastoral leadership and care for the congregation
2. To provide leadership for the administrative tasks and needs of the church.
3. To oversee, mentor, and direct the ministry staff of the church

Requirements

1. Born-again and living a dedicated, separated Christian life.
2. If married, his wife should be in full agreement with her husband’s desire to serve in this capacity.
3. Adequate academic and practical ministry experience.
4. Agreement with Church Constitution and By-Laws.
5. In agreement and participation with Venture Church Network IV.

Authority

• The Lead Pastor shall have authority to perform his responsibilities in harmony with the Constitution of the Church.
• He shall be respected as one called of the Lord to his ministry, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Accountability

The Lead Pastor is responsible to the Board of Elders and the Congregation. He maintains a close working relationship with all boards in order to provide a smooth and harmonious ministry for the Church.

Responsibilities

• Teach and preach the Word of God to the congregation.
• Oversee all aspects of the public worship services.
• Oversee the provision of Pastoral Care for the congregation.
• Oversee funerals and weddings.
• Oversee the ordinances of baptism and communion.
• Attend various board and committee meetings as necessary.
• Preside over staff meetings.
• Chair all congregational meetings or appoint someone to moderate in his absence.
• Advance the First Baptist Church of Danville, PA vision statement of “A community in Christ, Reaching our community for Christ”

Danville First Baptist Church is located in Danville Pennsylvania with the population of about 7000. Our church has approximately 4 to 500 people attending our services on Sunday. We are active with AWANA and other youth ministries. Senior pastor would have three other associate pastors  and one Director of children’s ministry under the senior pastor’s responsibility.  We are a congregational lead Church and we believe Preaching of God‘s word is the most important part of our church growth.  We have a website, which would help you see our ministries going on at Danville First Baptist.
