Youth Pastor or Director

Gilbert Chinese Church (GCC) is a nondenominational evangelical Christian church serving the Chinese community in Gilbert, Arizona, and nearby areas. Currently GCC has a regular attendance of over 170 adults, 25+ youth, and 60+ children.

We are seeking a Youth Pastor or Director for our youth (ages 13-18) with multicultural backgrounds.

Ministry goals

• Seek God’s vision, develop plans to help youth grow in faith and intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and to build a Christ-centered community where the youth can support and love each other.
• Help youth believers to be the salt and light in this world and to make a positive impact on the people around them.
• Prepare the youth to face spiritual challenges and to navigate through our current cultural environment.

Ministry responsibilities / day-to-day descriptions

• Collaborate with GCC leadership and adult co-workers to develop Youth ministry specific goals.
• Provide curriculum for Youth Sunday School and organize Friday Night Fellowship.
• Work with other Youth co-workers to teach Youth Sunday school and caring for the youths.
• Oversee and coordinate Youth events and activities (e.g., mission trips, youth retreats).
• Partner with parents by holding periodic Parent meetings and 1:1 communication if needed.
• Provide necessary training for Youth co-workers (e.g., teaching Sunday school, classroom management).
• Additional responsibilities for the Youth Pastor position is to disciple the youth. He is to preach at English Worship Service at a negotiated frequency (e.g., once a month).

Ministry qualifications

• Faith – The applicant must be baptized and be in full agreement with GCC’s statement of faith, which is available upon request or as seen on our website.
• Character – The applicant must have Biblical leadership characteristics.
• Language – The applicant must be fluent in English. Proficiency in Chinese is a plus but not necessary.
• Experience – The applicant must have 1-2 years of ministry experience in North America, and have a passion for ministering to youth in a cross-cultural context. Experience in counseling is preferred.
• Education – Additional Qualification for the Youth Pastor position is to have completed or be currently enrolled in a seminary school pursuing a degree in Christian ministry.
