Missions Resident

Role Summary 

A Missions Resident assists the Mobilization Team in executing the vision and strategies of Mercy’s Missions pipeline to help attendees and members grow in their awareness of and participation in God’s pursuit of the nations. This position reports directly to the Mobilization team leader, helping to plan and recruit for short term trips, while also assisting gin other components of the mobilization pipeline.

Residency Responsibilities

  • Residency Cohort
    • Attending all required residency cohorts (bi-weekly, except during the summer).
    • Completing all required assignments, readings, and writing assignments.
    • Working alongside other residents to complete final projects once a semester.
  • Support-Raising
    • Maintaining a healthy support raising status
    • 75% is required to do part-time work with their ministry team.
    • 90% is required to do full-time work with their ministry team.
    • Maintaining the relationship with their support team through monthly support updates.
  • Development and Discernment
    • Constantly learning and helping lead alongside their direct supervisor in their designated ministry.
    • Committing to being developed, evaluated, and receiving regular feedback.
    • Create and regularly update a personal growth plan.

Ministry Track Responsibilities 

  • Short Term Trip Leadership
    • Plan logistics for all short term trips (including, but not limited to lodging, transportation, team training, leader identification and training).
    • Engaging with and strengthening relationships with missionary partners.
    • Engaging with and recruiting members to go on short term trips.
    • Working with the Mobilization team to ensure anyone who goes on a trip is followed up by the team to move people forward in the pipeline.
    • Plan and lead short term trip leader trainings.
  • Assist Mobilization Team
    • Help with the discover portion of their pipeline (discover, develop, deploy) by helping to plan and lead disciple-making teams (DMTs) and Mission of God (MOG) class.
    • Build relationships with individuals in the mobilization pipeline and encourage them to go on short term trips.

General Expectations 

  • A Mercy Church Resident should be teachable and always exhibit professionalism, conscientious work ethic, and accountability.
  • A Mercy Church Resident needs to be willing and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, with composure and flexibility.

Office Hours and Work Schedule

The hours for this position are expected to be approximately 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in several locations, there are several times throughout the year that Mercy Church holds church-wide events in order to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events, regardless of the positions they hold. Such events include, but are not limited to Easter services, Good Friday services, All-Church-Gathering, and Christmas services. Specific expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.

  • If you would like to take the next step forward, then our team will schedule a second phone call with the direct supervisor of the ministry track you are most interested in to preliminarily determine if that team would be a good fit.

Application

  • If the Residency is a good fit for you, then you’ll complete a formal application with Reliant. Those selected to continue the process will undergo a more in-depth professional and personality assessment.

Interview

  • After your application is accepted by Reliant, a formal in-person interview will be scheduled.

Offer and Training

  • If an offer is made and accepted, you will go through support-raising training anywhere between 3-5 months prior to your start date.
