Mesa Global is actively seeking a site director for Avance Mexico. We are looking for someone with strong cross-cultural experience who has a working knowledge of Spanish. This individual will show an ability to work with young adults as they develop in their personal discipleship and formation in Christ, navigate experiences in another culture, grow in their understanding of cross-cultural ministry, and deepen their knowledge of the Scriptures. This individual will also demonstrate a heart and understanding to come alongside local ministry leaders to encourage and assist them in their God-given dreams to impact their congregations, neighborhoods, and city.

Mesa Global is Non-Denominational or Inter-Denominational US Missionary Sending Agency.  We are based in Charlotte, NC but this specific role will be in Mexico.  It is a full-time position (40 hrs a week) you will receive a salary and benefits.  It is also a support -raised position and we will provide the training on how to build a support team and provide resources for the role.

Position Overview:

Mesa Global is actively seeking a site director for Avance Mexico. Avance is our immersion program that gives young adults the opportunity to learn under Mexico leaders, be mentored by Mesa long-term workers, while also exploring ministry opportunities while being immersed in Mexico.  We are looking for someone with strong cross-cultural experience who has a working knowledge of Spanish. This individual will show an ability to work with young adults as they develop in their personal discipleship and formation in Christ, navigate experiences in another culture, grow in their understanding of cross-cultural ministry, and deepen their knowledge of the Scriptures. This individual will also demonstrate a heart and understanding to come alongside local ministry leaders to encourage and assist them in their God-given dreams to impact their congregations, neighborhoods, and city.

Qualifications:

  • Contagious faith, deep love for the Lord Jesus, His church, young adults, and the people of Mexico and Latin America.
  • Good working knowledge of Spanish.
  • Completion of at least two years in cross-cultural ministry service.
  • A strong commitment to and experience with Avance’s strategic approach and values: Immersion, Incarnation, and Innovation.
  • A desire to work alongside the church in Mexico and Latin America, recognizing the work
  • God is doing in and through them and cooperating with and supporting its efforts.
  • A commitment to working interdenominationally with the Evangelical church in Mexico and Latin America.
  • A passion for mentoring, training, and shaping future generations of cross-cultural missionaries and missionally-minded individuals who participate in Avance.
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity (1 Tim. 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9).
  • Able to work well with others.
  • Highly motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Effective communication skills and sensitivity in cross-cultural engagement.
  • Team builder, strong networking skills, and problem solver.
  • Forward thinking. Willingness to grow, learn, and adapt.
  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles and how the role fits within the development goals of the ministry.
  • Experience working with and administering a non-profit agency or Christian ministry.
  • Willingness to travel nationally or internationally.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ministry Leadership
    • Provide vision, direction, and strategy to the Avance program in Mexico.
    • Lead, supervise, and mentor Avance staff as needed.
    • Promote and cultivate relationships among Avance International sites.
    • Develop and cultivate international partnerships
    • Oversee, develop, and maintain relationships with local ministry & other strategic partners.
    • Promote Avance program with the leadership and mobilization team.
  • Avance Administration
    • Ensure planning and coordination of the summer program and all cohort programs.
    • Develop and evaluate ministry opportunities for the Avance program.
    • Oversee and evaluate the quality of the Spanish learning program.
    • Establish and maintain positive communication and interaction with UWM, Avance participants, ministry leaders, pastors, and host families.
    • Serve as a cross-cultural mediator between Avance participants, pastors, and families.
    • Assist, encourage, empower, and facilitate Avance staff and participants in protecting and promoting their own spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being so they can carry out their ministry assignments in a healthy and exemplary manner.
    • Provide leadership for Avance staff and participants by meeting individually with assigned team members for regular one-on-one appointments and provide individualized training in ministry skills appropriate to the participants’ needs.
    • Regularly evaluate program personnel & recruit new staff as necessary.
    • Make regular ministry visits to Avance ministry locations to encourage participants’ adaptation and effectiveness in service.
