Director of Mobilization

This is a Full-Time REMOTE position.

Purpose:  To lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, world-class strategy for mobilizing, deploying, and supporting short-term missions’ teams. This role facilitates partnerships with churches and local ministry leaders, ensures clear communication, and continuously evaluates and improves team effectiveness in alignment with Missions Door’s vision. Coordinating with other departments, the Director of Mobilization leads experienced short-term missionary staff, communicates with other Directors and Missions Door staff, and collaborates with church partners to multiply local ministry impact.

Main Duties:

  • Develop, under Ministry Director, a comprehensive, integrated short-term missions’ strategy built for the realities of the 21st Century (digital collaboration, hybrid teams, or adapting to global travel restrictions).
  • Actively coordinate with Ministry Directors and cross-departmental teams to build credibility, consistency, clarity, transparency, and trust.
  • Serve as Missions Door’s subject matter expert on short-term teaming trends and report to Executive Leadership Team (ELT) as needed.
  • Participate in meetings with MDs and ELT (as needed).
  • Discretionally visit and/or deploy team short-term members to potential locations, vision trips, and mission trips with churches.
  • Communicate and coordinate with local multipliers and supporting team members on world-class opportunities for a variety of church and campus ministry expectations.
  • Provide feedback to MDs and ELT on trendlines, tracking, and reporting on effectiveness, local multiplication strategic challenges, and other issues related to short term missions so that we can drive to address them in efforts to be world-class.
  • Develop an effective philosophy, approach, and parameters for short-term teams, utilizing feedback from VP of Ministry, MDs, and ELT for effectiveness (assessment tools, orientation resources, and clear expectations for team members).
  • Create solutions for latent, but currently unaddressed, opportunities (example: short term team regional conferences, representation at VCN meetings or other places wherein Missions Door Short-Term Missions may benefit).
  • Work with Communications team for consistent brand voice in advertising, training, and communication materials.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, intercultural)
  • People-person: can speak with pastoral staff and leaders, committed to providing optimal solutions for pastoral staff and ministry leaders
  • Strategy: ability to envision outcomes and pathways to achieving those outcomes
  • Capacity to travel (percentage of travel depends on the season of ministry). Travel schedule is self-directed and approved by Ministry Director.

Candidates will:

Be commissioned as a missionary with Missions Door while remaining rooted in their local context.
Engage in partnership development to build a team of prayer and financial supporters.

This is a fully self-funded role.
