The Assistant Pastor of Church Planting is called to discern, develop, and lead the planting of a new congregation in the metro Richmond region. This role exists to advance
Third Church’s vision of Growing Small by cultivating a new, contextualized, Christ-centered community that embodies the whole gospel and contributes to the renewal of our city.
During the first two years, the Assistant Pastor of Church Planting will be embedded in the life of Third Church as part of a Church Plant Residency, receiving mentoring, support, and leadership opportunities while prayerfully discerning alongside the church body the location, model, and community for a new congregation. At the conclusion of the residency, Third Church will commission this pastor to launch the new congregation, providing salary support through the first year of the plant.
